Exhibition, Visual Identity

Musashino Art University

2024

Diving into what you love. Collecting and arranging what you discover. Through observation, discoveries accumulate, and new perspectives emerge. By closely examining details or capturing the entirety from a distance, changing your viewpoint reveals different facets. This approach to interacting with subjects, reminiscent of sketching, aligns closely with the educational philosophy of this department. This concept forms the basis for proposing a visual representation that embodies the culmination of this education: the degree show.Of course, each student tackles a unique theme. Rather than consolidating their works under a specific motif or slogan, the visual identity relies solely on the department name and year, “VCD’24,” avoiding any additional concrete imagery. The design context draws inspiration from educational practices of figures like Armin Hofmann and Wolfgang Weingart. Using frottage techniques on walls and floors within the campus, the textures were used to create custom halftone patterns. This meticulous approach ties every aspect back to the framework of education. From conceptualization to graphic design, implementation, catalog creation, and web design, nearly all facets of this project were handled independently.
